Day 3: Valentines Day

I gotta tell you I'm not a huge fan of Valentines Day.  It's full of potential, yet it never seems to come full circle for anyone.  It was a much better celebration when I was a little girl and you got to decorate your card box, take it to school, gather oodles of cheap ass valentines and then read them all looking for little clues that you might be their special one.. ..like if you got "the big card" from the store pack or maybe a piece of candy tucked into the envelope.  They don't even take the time to make the little envelopes any more, now you just fold them over and if your lucky someone puts that little heart sticker on it to keep it shut. .. ooh the mystery of it all.  Plus, I'm a little bitter that I didn't have the endless supply of crafting items that I have now, when I was a kid.  The only thing we ever had around the house to decorate my box with were those damn white doilies, maybe some construction paper, and if I was lucky. .. glitter!  It just could have been so much more, ya know?  When you were little you were guaranteed a fair amount of Valentine booty, as an adult your lucky if someone even remembers it prior to the drive home!  I'm not really a cynic,  but I play one every February 14th.
I have decided though, that next year will be different.  Next year as a special Valentine treat for myself, I'm going to take the day off and go on a scavenger hunt with my camera.  I'm going to head out by car and foot to find all things that are and that look like hearts. . .I'll find them in rocks, in clouds, carved in trees, and then I'll head to the city and find them in the obvious places, but I will take amazing pictures of them and make them something special.  That is what I will do next year to make this day the perfect day that it is supposed to be.
I had my Valentine show back in January and sold 90% of my Valentine signs.  The one piece of art shown here is the only thing left (after donating leftover signs to various family and friends).  Wonder why it remained without any lookers.  It's not the best piece I've ever done, but I kinda dug it. . .maybe it was supposed to be mine. ..my own little Valentines gift to myself!
I've been looking at other blogs. . .they are quite amazing and I am eager to learn more about setting this up so that I can have an amazing blog as well.  I want to learn how to post things other than just my daily bs!  I also want to have  space for project ideas  and how to's.

Day 2

For Day 2 my goal is to post a picture of myself in the profile. This may be all of the action anyone gets today.

Okay, I have it on this page, now to figure out how to get it moved using the HTML thingy. How boring of a blog is this?

Well, I tried unsuccessfully, so now I'm back to writing. Today I just want to make a list, it makes me feel better. . .I want to make a list of all the things that I want to learn to do: 1. make a silly quilt 2. learn to. . .suddenly I went blank and can't think of a damn thing that I want to learn to do. . .maybe that is a sign that it's time yet for me to sit down and blog. . .I should still be working!

My First Day of Blogging

Well, those who know me will laugh their asses off thinking that I am creating a blog. I'm so computer illiterate that no one would expect that I could do this by myself! But, I'm going to. I decided when I was reading the article "Blogging: How it can expand our creative and personal growth" in the magazine Cloth, Paper , Scissors. . . that if the author could be up and running in 15 minutes then so could I.
So here I am, now what do I say?

Today, I am having trouble creating, it is raining here, so that always sucks the mojo out of my creativity. I've decided that on those days, instead of working on orders or preparing for the next Studio Thursday, I'm going to do research. . .which is really playing for those of us who are fortunate to get paid to create!

So today I will play with my soldering gun. I'm so intrigued by what you can do with them, but not so sure of the fumes they create. . .scares me a bit. . .anybody know anything about that part of it? I took a few days off at Christmas to "play" and did two pieces with my evil twin's art. . .I thought they were really cool, but of course I soon had to get back to work and sat them aside. If I can figure out how to put in a picture here, I'll show you!
Okay. . .I got the picture on, but it's sideways. . .can't figure out how to fix that. . .so anyone out there reading this, just turn your head!
